Amendment 13 - Slavery Abolished. Ratified 12/6/1865. History 1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction. 2. Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation Slavery includes psychological slavery, terroristic threat slavery, physical involuntary movements of a person, or other forced performance by a person against his/ her will. slavery includes any type of involuntary forcing of a person to perform an act; including psychological, mental, physical or other means.
